Additional Useful Information about Video Converters
What is a video converter?
A video converter is a tool that changes a video from one file format to another.
Is a video converter the same as a video compressor?
No. A video converter changes the file format. A video compressor reduces the file size. Some converters however can do both.
What’s the difference between online and offline video converters?
Online video converters work through a web browser and don’t need installation. They also don’t use your devices processing resources to convert the video.
Offline converters are installed programs that work directly on your computer without the internet and use your computers resources which can make your system run slow if you don’t have a powerful system. Conversions can also take a long time depending on how powerful your system is.
How do I choose the correct resolution and bitrate when converting?
It entirely depends on what you are trying to do. If you want to preserve quality, often times you have the choice to “copy” your source file’s quality via our service. Regardless, you don’t ever want to surpass your source file’s quality parameters.
Why is my converted video blurry or pixelated?
This happens when conversion settings that surpass the quality of the source video file are selected OR when really low settings were selected.
Will converting a video always reduce its quality?
Not necessarily. If you only want to change the format of your video, all you have to do is select settings as close as possible to your source. If you choose settings of lower quality than the source, then quality will be reduced.
