1. Introduction
Alpha1Convert (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Alpha1Convert.com (the “Service”), a free online file conversion tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use the Service.
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.
We may update this policy as our Service evolves or as legal requirements change. We will indicate the new effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
2. About the Service
Alpha1Convert provides a free, browser-based file conversion tool. You upload a file, we convert it, you download the result. We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the core conversion features.
File handling is designed with privacy in mind:
- Source files (your uploaded files) are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers as soon as the conversion job is complete.
- Destination files (your converted output files) are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers 1 hour after the conversion job completes.
- You may also manually delete your converted file at any time before the 1-hour window expires.
- We do not access, view, read, or analyze the contents of your files. We process them solely to perform the conversion you requested.
- You retain all rights and ownership of your files at all times.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit or use the Service, certain information is collected automatically by our servers and third-party services:
- IP address — collected by our web server logs for security, fraud prevention, and abuse detection purposes.
- Browser type and version, operating system, device type — standard HTTP header data collected as part of normal web traffic.
- Pages visited and actions taken on the Service — used to understand how users interact with the Service and to improve it.
- Referring URL — the page or link that brought you to our Service, if applicable.
- Date and time of your visit — standard server log data.
3.2 Information You Provide
Currently, the Service does not require you to create an account or submit any personal information (such as name or email address) to use the conversion features. If we introduce optional or required accounts, paid plans, or a support system in the future, we will update this policy accordingly to describe what additional information is collected and how it is used.
3.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our third-party service providers use cookies and similar tracking technologies. A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a website. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. However, some parts of the Service may not function properly without cookies.
We use the following types of cookies:
- Essential / Session Cookies — Required for the Service to function. These are temporary and deleted when you close your browser.
- Analytics Cookies — Used to understand how visitors use the Service so we can improve it (see Section 4).
- Advertising Cookies — Used by Google to serve relevant advertisements (see Section 5).
4. Analytics — How We Measure Usage
4.1 Matomo Analytics (Self-Hosted)
We use Matomo, an open-source, self-hosted web analytics platform, to collect and analyze anonymized usage statistics. Because Matomo runs on our own servers, your analytics data is not shared with or transmitted to any third-party company.
Matomo may collect: IP address (anonymized), pages viewed, time on site, browser/device type, and referring URL. This data is used solely to improve the Service and is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
4.2 Google Analytics (Optional)
We may also use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. If enabled, Google Analytics collects information about your use of the Service and reports website traffic and behavior statistics to us.
Google may use the data it collects to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. For more information, please review Google’s Privacy & Terms.
When Google Analytics is in use, it operates under Google’s data processing terms and applicable privacy laws. We will update this policy to clearly indicate when Google Analytics is active.
5. Advertising — Google AdSense
We may display advertisements on the Service through Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google AdSense uses cookies and tracking technologies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Service and other websites across the Internet.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of interest-based advertising from Google at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.
Google’s advertising practices are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes described above.
We do not control the content of ads served by Google, and Google operates independently under its own privacy and data policies.
6. How We Use Information
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the file conversion Service.
- To monitor and improve the performance, reliability, and features of the Service.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense to support the free Service.

We do not use your information to send you marketing emails, build individual user profiles, or make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
7.1 Third-Party Service Providers
We work with third-party companies that process data on our behalf to help operate the Service. These providers are contractually obligated to use data only for the purposes we specify and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Current third-party data processors include:

7.4 With Your Consent
We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit prior consent.
8. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

12. Do Not Track

Our Service does not currently respond to DNT signals, as there is no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to such signals. However, you can opt out of interest-based advertising as described in Section 5.
13. Third-Party Links and Social Media
The Service may contain links to third-party websites and social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter/X, and others. These third parties operate independently and have their own privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content, privacy practices, or policies.
When you interact with our social media pages or use social sharing features, those social networks may track your activity. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit:
14. International Data Transfers
Alpha1Convert is based in the United States. When you use the Service, your information may be processed and stored in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. Where we transfer data internationally (for example, to Google LLC for advertising purposes), we rely on standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms as required by applicable law.
15. Cookie Consent
Depending on your location and applicable law, we may present you with a cookie consent banner when you first visit the Service. This banner allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies (such as advertising and analytics cookies). You may update your preferences at any time.

When we do, we will update this Privacy Policy before those features go live to clearly describe any new data practices.
We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice (such as a site banner or, if you have provided an email address, an email notification).
